The most Body and Blood of Christ is the Mystery and Centrality of our Faith. John 6:51-58 which is the gospel explains the importance of the Body and Blood of Christ. As a Mystery of Salvation, it makes the church what is it today. The Holiness is contained in the gifts of the Jesus. It makes the church one (Universal). It makes the church one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. The first document of the Vatican council says that all things we do in the church comes from the foundation of the Bible. The three sacraments (Baptism, Confirmation and Marriage) we receive are celebrated within the Body of Christ by saying the Mass everyday. The goals of the Liturgy of the Eucharist is To eat the Lord’s supper, To take part in the sacrifice of the offering and To Praise God. The attitudes of a catholic Communicant taking part in the Eucharist should show the attitudes of
Attitude of Appreciation - requires us to be grateful always with humility and reverence. We must always be thankful and joyous. We become little mobile tabernacles as we receive Christ
Attitude of Celebration – We must be conscious and active. Jesus must be adored and honoured. It calls us to have genuine and full participation in the Celebration of the Eucharist which must be CONSCIOUS and ACTIVE. It takes us to the level of adoration.
Attitude of Imitation: The motive of the relationship whether in Church or elsewhere should be an act of love for God. We are called to the attitude of imitation with love for God,the children of God and humanity in oneness and unity. 1 Corinth10:16-17.
The peak of appreciation of Jesus Christ is to become like Himself in every virtues, from which we receive strength that we need. Taking His body and blood tells us that we must be united with Christ and copy all His doings. We must receive His gifts wholeheartedly. We must remove every road block that is hindering us from receiving the Eucharistic body and soul. See more reflections
