Are you a good Shepherd – Sunday Reflections by Very Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Ajayi 30th April 2023.

The Lord is my Shepherd, there is nothing I shall want. Today is the Good Shepherd Sunday. Only the Lord Jesus Christ is called The Good Shepherd. He has come to save lives and makes us His flock of sheep. The Lord says I shall give you Shepherd after my own Heart who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. We are called as shepherd which is God’s Tabernacle who will lead the flock with the knowledge and prudence. Jesus fed us with the knowledge of the father. As good Shepherd, wherever providence follows you, be a Shepherd in our profession or vocation of life. Listen to His voice and follow Him. The Christian that follows through the back door is called a thief, while the one that follows through the Gates opened by the Gatemen are called Shepherds. A shepherd is always encouraged to do the right thing. It may be difficult, but it is possible to be a Shepherd. Are you a Provider for your family, community. Are you emphatic to your family, community e.t.c. In difficult times especially in Nigerian communities, are you providing support to your family and community. Defend your rights and flocks and even your relative community against all oppositions. We are advised to pray for vocations. People who make sure that the work of Christ goes round. Make petitions to Christ to continue the vocation God has assigned to. Marriage, Priesthood etc. Let us support vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life, materially and spiritually and financially by Praying for those who are assigned to Shepherd those flocks to the salvation of Christ.
